At the United Nations climate summit COP28 in Dubai, a notable incident occurred involving several European leaders. The presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland refused to participate in a group photo because it included Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. However, Estonia's Prime Minister Kaja Kallas did not join this boycott.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda expressed his principles strongly, stating it would be hypocritical to stand alongside leaders who support Russia's aggression against Ukraine. He emphasized that the Belarusian regime shares responsibility for the destruction of the world's future, the loss of lives in Ukraine, and the environmental catastrophe there.

The refusal to pose in the 'family photo' at COP28 symbolized a strong political stance against the Belarusian leader, condemned for cracking down on opposition and eroding democratic freedoms, and accused of orchestrating a migrant influx into Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland, labeled as a "hybrid attack."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kallas's decision to participate in the photo with Lukashenko has sparked discussions about Estonia's stance and diplomatic strategy at such significant international events.
